Demographic Variables Affecting Job Tenure in St. Petersburg, Russia

Employee turnover has been of concern for business managers and social scientists over the years. Job Tenure is an index that portrays the stability of employment for individuals. Job tenure is one of the indicators of employee loyalty in the workplace. Loyalty generates employee satisfaction, productivity, and company profitability. It is our contention as authors that factors such as age, gender, and educational levels of an employee contribute to the deterioration of interest and lack of motivation associated with job tenure. Using data from the largest job board in Russia, called HeadHunter, and with the help of multiway analysis of variance (multi-way ANOVA), it is evident in our results that in the case of Russia, age, gender, and education level as demographic variables have significant interaction effects on the average employment tenures. Additionally, an experimental model was developed to predict job tenure under the influence of the three demographic variables which rely on the categorical regression model with optimal scaling technique (CATREG).
