Expressivity in English and German Business Correspondence

Nowadays business correspondence has a significant role as through business documents and letters we can convey new ideas, inform about goods and services, strengthen partnerships, and establish new business contacts. In general, this study is motivated by content and structural differences within business letters in both English and German. There are following goals such as to find out the main dominants of business letters and analyze the role of expressivity as it significantly influences communicative goal and overall image of letters. The research will be based on descriptive and comparative methods. As a result, it can explore the means of expressivity from different perspectives. The findings of the research show an impact of expressivity on the structural and pragmatic aspects of business letters. In addition, they might support the hypothesis of expressivity in business texts.
