Adaptation of a Humorous Text when Translating from French into Russian (Based on French Cinematic Discourse of the 21st Century)

The problem of translating any kind of literary texts has always been the most acute among the entire translation community. Moreover, special importance has always been attached to the translation of a humorous and comic text, which is recognized as one of the most time-consuming and related to the most difficult translatability group. This work will focus on adapting a humorous text when translating from French into Russian and will be based on material from 21st century French cinema discourse. This research will be primarily centered on the studies of existing translation strategies and theories, as well as on identifying the most relevant and appropriate types of transformations. The study of the existing theory in the area will allow to delve into the research topic and identify their major punch lines. This research seeks to study and to analyze the effect of various types of transformations on the recipient and identify the relationship between the trigger of the comic and the method of its transmission. Consequently, it will help to determine the degree of influence of different translation methods on the audience. The results of this study could be used as a theoretical tool for future translation specialists, as well as present the practical value for modern translators.
