Verbal and Non-Verbal Features of Corporate Culture of Russians and the Chinese

With the development of international trade and global relations in the field of business, science, and politics, multinational organizations and governments of different countries try to deepen mutual understanding and establish communication. It is becoming increasingly clear that this requires not only a more intensive and full-scale study of foreign languages, but also an understanding of foreign customs and cultures and patterns of behavior. Business relations between the Russian and Chinese partners are developing rapidly. Many state-significant agreements in the fields of energy, economic development, transport, healthcare have been signed recently between Russia and China. However, the analysis of the educational literature on intercultural Russian-Chinese business communication shows that there is a lack of special textbooks in the educational market, the content of which would correspond to the changed political and economic situation, modern relations between Russia and China, and modern business environment standards. To identify features of corporate culture, primary and secondary data were collected and the approach of qualitative data analysis was applied: comparison of cultures by measurements of three scientists who study problems of intercultural interaction, as well as identification of features of verbal and non-verbal communication. The main data used for the analysis were the cultural dimensions of Hofstede, theories by E.T.Hall and R.D.Lewis. The practical significance of the work is that developed recommendations for improving mutual understanding can be used for training Russian specialists from different spheres who work with Chinese partners.
