Formation of Cross-Cultural Communicative Competence: Professionally Oriented Approach

The issue of intercultural communication has been discussed much because of the rapid development of globalization around the world in the middle of 20th century. However, researchers have begun to profoundly focus on the impact of intercultural competence on intercultural communication only in the 70s of the 20th century and studies are continuing to be conducted. We find consistent evidence that intercultural competence is crucial aspect on professionally level and a bunch of schools and university departments apply this subject in their study programs. The purpose of proposed research project is to expand knowledge of formation of intercultural competence using professionally oriented approach comparing intercultural communication skills obtained among students of different specializations of language department. A combination of qualitative and quantitative methods of data analysis will be used for assessing the intercultural competence in intercultural communication and stages of its formation among students.
