Trade Flows Analysis in the Agricultural Market

The purpose of this study is to analyze trade flows in the world agricultural market. In order to solve this task, the data from the Food and Agricultural Organization of the United Nations website from 2007 to 2017 were analyzed. On the basis of the data, a multi-layer agricultural trade network was built, containing 11 layers, each corresponds to a certain year of observation. The analysis of the network showed that there are clear signs of globalization in the agricultural market, such as an increase in the clustering coefficient with a decreasing average path length. Linear regression models were also constructed, which showed that such factors as the level of human development in the country, GDP per capita, commercial credits and government expenditures on agriculture have a noticeable impact on the volume and intensity of trade flows in a given market.
