Topos of Consumption in Russian Culture: Genesis, Functions, Transformations

In this paper, we attempted to find the topos of consumption in the Russian culture. How does consumption consume and decode cultural phenomena? What function does it perform? What cultural mechanisms defines and discloses? On the material of the representativeness of consumption in Russian culture of the 19th century, we will try to find answers to the questions posed. The subject of the research will be Chekhov's epistolary and fiction and the diaries of Maria Bashkirtseva.
