This paper investigates the urgent problem of improving the effectiveness of strategic planning in a competitive environment. An approach is proposed to choosing the optimal competitive strategy based on a combination of SWOT analysis of information, obtained during competitive intelligence, and multi-criteria decision analysis (MCDA) methods. The concept of competitive intelligence and its role in strategic planning is described. The systematization of the main decision-making methods is carried out. The practical implementation of the approach is carried out on the example of choosing the optimal strategy for increasing the market share in Russia for the company SberCloud, which provides cloud services. To do this, a preliminary analysis of the specifics of the market for the provision of cloud services and the competitive business environment of the company is carried out. The practical significance of the study lies in the fact that the described approach can be used by companies in the strategic planning process to increase their efficiency and competitiveness.
