3PL Logistics Concept Adaptation by Russian Companies

This paper presents the results of studies on the application of the 3PL concept. The theoretical aspect of the concept of “logistics” was investigated and its historical evolution as an economic activity was considered. The principle of the transition to outsourcing of logistics functions was revealed, and the nature and problems of the development of logistics outsourcing in Russia were identified. The essence and problems of transport and logistics cooperation, the basic concepts of PL were disclosed. We also studied the features of creating a value proposition of a 3PL provider and developed an algorithm for deciding on the transition to outsourcing of logistics functions. The features of the restructuring of the existing logistics system for the tasks of a 3PL provider are analyzed, and recommendations for the effective adaptation of the 3PL concept at a Russian enterprise are proposed.
