Сurrently, they are actively discussing the necessary professional skills and competencies in the field of tourism of the future at professional industry conferences, both in Russia and abroad. Many experts of the tourism industry at forums and exhibitions talk about the importance of future competencies in tourism, however, the training of specialists and the hiring of personnel for work in this field have not changed much. The current competencies that are presented to an employee in the tourism industry practically do not coincide with the forecast competencies that, according to experts of the tourism industry, will be needed by employees of the tourism industry of the future. Thus, the problem of the gap can be distinguished between what they say about the professional requirements for future employees in tourism and what competencies are really required now, although the future is already actively coming, especially digital. How big is this gap between word and deed? This issue will be studied in the study. The purpose of the study is to identify the differences between the competencies now required and the competencies called competencies of the future, as well as to develop the professional profile of the future employee in tourism. The main stages of the work were conducting in-depth interviews with leading experts in the tourism industry and analyzing vacancies in the tourism industry using the Python programming language. Based on the results of the master's thesis, a professional profile of an employee of the future was compiled and practical recommendations were developed for educational institutions and companies in the tourism industry.
