The current paper is dedicated to an investigation of occasional distortions of poetic text during recitation by younger students. Based on the analysis of theoretical literature, the main hypotheses of the origin of such text modifications are built. Using discursive transcription of recordings obtained from interviews and simple statistical analysis, the classification of substitutions is identified and their distribution in the study group is studied. The main non-textual features of recitation of respondents from 7 to 10 years of age are also considered. The main types of substitutions detected in adults and children are compared. The analysis of original empirical data and additional survey reveal a unique type of substitutions, specific to younger students, and confirm the hypothesis of the origin of occasional distortions.
