The "Just In Time" strategy is being actively used by the majority of automotive companies. This strategy assumes a high frequency of deliveries of components that are used for automobile production. To ensure their safe transportation, companies of the industry use reusable containers. This type of containers has a large number of advantages over single-use containers. However, the process of managing them is quite complex. Many companies of the industry do not pay enough attention to this process, which leads to container losses, the unit cost of which exceeds 50 thousand rubles. This situation is also present at Renault Russia. Company annually purchases containers, which worth more than 400 thousand euros in total due to their loss and damaging. This paper discusses the existing approaches to packaging management of automotive industry companies, as well as various tools (RFID technology) used to organize this process. Based on this information, a comprehensive solution is developed, which allows the focal company to significantly reduce containers losses, and therefore the annual costs of purchasing new containers.
