Development of a Model for the Master of Applied Research (Design and Research Master)

The topic of this paper is connected with the need for training of specialists with competences in the field of applied research. The focus on them is also relevant for the training of modern mass workers and for regional universities training researchers for science. Usually the training for research activities is focused only on the use of scientific methods. However, for applied research, which has typical characteristics of a project, this is not enough. The combination of a research component and a project component is the main feature of the model of the developed main professional educational programmes. Their core is the Project Module which includes project work training and implementation of group projects in the professional sphere. Its introduction is connected with the total transformation of the educational process of a university. The purpose of this paper is to develop a model educational programme of an applied research master’s programme. The objectives are: to study the experience of project-based learning and applied research master’s programmes, to conduct a pre-project study, to test and correct the model. The theoretical framework for the model graduate description: the Knowmad Society concept. The recommended set of activities to be implemented in order to transition to the new model is divided into 5 groups. Keywords: applied research master’s programme, project-based learning
