Antitrust Regulation of Parallel Imports in the European Union and Development Perspectives in the Russian Federation

The subject of this study is the institution of parallel import, which is one of the unofficial (not agreed with the copyright holder of exclusive rights) channels for the supply of goods to the market of a particular state. The rapid development of parallel imports has lead to the need of modernization of the parallel import's legal regulation, not only in order to protect the copyright holder, but also in order to protect constitutional values, including the unity of economic circulation, free movement of goods and services, and the protection of competition. The significant difference in the models of legal regulation of parallel imports in the European Union and the Russian Federation is of interest for research in order to determine the vector of development of Russian legislation in this area. The study used the methods of legal and economic analysis, statistical data, and also studied the opinions recognized in the scientific community. The author concludes that the legislative regulation of parallel imports in the Russian Federation should be based, among other things, on the possible economic consequences, as well as on the development of market relations.
