Characteristics of CEOs Impact Company Performance at Different Stages of the Organization's Life Cycle

The purpose of this paper is to study and assess the impact of the personal characteristics of the leaders of the digital ecosystem product teams on operational efficiency. Using binary choice models (the main conclusions were made on the basis of logit-regressions), we found a significant negative relationship between the probability of achieving business goals by a team and the leader's attitude to the distance of power and uncertainty. Power distance and aversion of uncertainty likewise affect the likelihood of a team falling within the planned spending budget. In addition, a positive relationship was found between goal fulfillment and a manager's view on collectivism. Thus, the partial effectiveness of using the Hofstede classification for modeling the operational efficiency of digital ecosystems and the selection of team leaders is confirmed. The results are consistent with the previous studies and do not contradict the major management theories, contributing to the research of companies belonging to the post-industrial type formation.
