Educational Programme: Fashion (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2021

This project proposal discusses a serious ecological problem of the global ocean, which is increasingly becoming more actual every day. Basing on the analysis of the literature about ocean plastic pollution, its ways of entering the ocean, the effects of plastic on animals and humans, several deductions can be drawn. These deductions are also based on the results of visual research and project proposal work. The results of this study show that scientists and contemporary artists are sounding the alarm that the global ocean plastic pollution is growing rapidly. Next, a new generation of artists has appeared who put the problem of ocean pollution at the foreground of their work. Each of them shows an environmental problem by collecting plastic waste along the coast and deep in the ocean. Finally, through the creation of photographic works, installations and art objects, they signal about enormous plastic waste in the ocean and thereby attract the attention of mankind to this problem. The aim of this research is to study the ways of displaying ocean pollution by contemporary artists in art and identifying the techniques that will form the basis of the fashion collection. The diploma project consists of finding the techniques used by artists in their works and creating a collection based on the images of the "lifeguards of the World Ocean" from global pollution.
