Managing Projects in a Mining Industry Company at the Stage of Initiation

This work is devoted to the study of the activities of a project-oriented company at the stage of project initiation for the presence of ineffective processes in order to assess ways to improve them. The topic of the work is relevant, since at the stage of project initiation there is an acquaintance with the project, with the customer, and also the actions that are necessary for the successful implementation of the assigned project tasks are designed. It depends on how quickly and efficiently this stage goes through whether the project company will receive a contract, how quickly the project will begin and how accurately it will be planned, what problems the contractor will face at the implementation stage, and whether the customer will be satisfied with his work. The scientific problem in the work is the insufficient elaboration of methods for improving project management activities in real practice at the initiation stage. This problem is due to the fact that to date, studies that consider the initiation stage as a separate unit are based on a theoretical description and sentences "how it should be", without touching on real practical examples. The study of practical cases is aimed at the entire project, without a detailed study of the initiation process. ABC LLC acts as the analyzed company, since its activities are project management based on standard generally accepted approaches, therefore, the analysis of its activities at the stages of project initiation will fully help to reveal the purpose and objectives of the work. The aim of the work is to identify ineffective processes in the project-oriented company LLC "ABC" with an assessment of ways to improve them. The object of the research is ABC LLC, and the subject is the project management processes in ABC LLC at the initiation stage. Based on the results of the study, practical recommendations for improving the company's processes are proposed, indicating the appropriate methods for this, and the estimated financial and temporary improvements are calculated.
