The Conflict between a Teacher and a Parent: Participants' Perceptions of Behavioral Strategies and Ways of Resolving

This scientific research is devoted to the problem of the conflict which occur between the teachers and the students’ parents. The relationships between teachers and parents (their legal representatives) can be characterized by a high degree of emotional intensity. The parents’ claims for the most part are connected with the different aspects of the educational process at school in general and the quality of the teachers’ work. The teachers in return bemoan the parents’ aggression, antipathy, dissatisfaction with the educational process, and also with a negative performance appraisal. As a part of the study, the authors carried out an analysis of the literature and held an opinion poll among the teachers of Moscow schools. As a result, we conclude that there is a shortage of effective methods of conflict resolution which should be reconsidered in the near future.
