Job search is an important process both for a person and for the labor market as a whole. In some cases, the assistance of the State is needed to support the functioning of this process. In this work, the main strengths and weaknesses of the work of the state employment service of the Nizhny Novgorod region were identified, and possible ways of modernizing the work of the employment service were also demonstrated by the example of the new project of the Department of Labor and Social Protection of the population of Moscow "My Career", where a greater emphasis is directed at the most vulnerable segments of the population. One of the main results of the work is the conclusion that the main task of state policy is to include the problems of employment in the most important priorities of socio-economic policy. Special attention should be paid to active policy measures aimed at improving the competitiveness of citizens and improving the results of the functioning of the labor market.
