The main motivation for this research is the fact that a large number of individuals regularly spend many hours playing video games, and that activity has a potential to affect cognition and behavior. It is widely believed among games studies researchers that video games have good learning principles and can contribute to the development of different skills. The aim of my research is to find out whether there are significant differences in the level of development of cognitive skills and academic achievement between people with video games playing experience and those who do not have such experience. The participants in this study are children from six to ten years old who attend an additional section of mathematics education. Exploring the relationship between experience of playing video games, cognitive skills development and academic success is important for more complex and fair understanding of video games, it's impact on children, potential for academic achievement and social image.
