This study is aimed at developing recommendations for improving the level of consulting services provision for companies in the North Caucasus Federal District. The relevance is justified by the fact that today business, both small and large, is rapidly developing in the NCFD: with the growth of the number of companies, the need to attract third-party assistance to achieve certain business tasks, increases. However, currently consulting is very poorly developed in the NCFD – there are not so many consulting agencies, and the level of service provision is quite low. For example, dynamically developing firms that need consulting services are often have to contact agencies from other districts. The study confirms that the problem of the low level of consulting services provision in the NCFD is the reason why customers choose companies from other regions. Accordingly, it creates an urgent problem of the need to increase the level of consulting services provision by NCFD companies, thereby developing the consulting industry in this district. To achieve the set goal, the following methods were used in the course of the study: analysis of sources of scientific literature; studying of consulting reports of companies; conducting interviews of company employees, conducting a survey of NCFD customers; benchmarking analysis. Based on the results of the survey, the general characteristics of the NCFD consulting companies and the gaps in their activities were identified, then the recommendations were formed. Thus, the developed proposals can be applied by any consulting company located on the territory of the NCFD and can also be used by local regulators to create training programs, advanced programs for local players in the field of consulting in order to reduce the problem of low level of service provision.
