The current paper discusses the structure of the biographical database of Russian writers, created for the Russian short stories corpus of the first third of the 20th century. Literary text and biography are considered as related elements. An important part of the work is devoted to the role of social origin, education and professions in the life and literary creativity of writers. This approach provides an opportunity to study creative writing, taking into account the most important aspects of life. In addition, in the process of creating a biographical database, a section of pseudonyms was developed, which significantly expands the search boundaries for both fictional and real names, and therefore improves the quality and accuracy of information. The relevance of creating the biographical database is due to the synchronic system approach, which ensures the inclusion of not only well-known, but also forgotten or little-studied authors.
