Educational Programme: Philosophy (Bachelor)

Year of Graduation: 2021

The graduation paper is devoted to analysis of the concept of space and studying it’s changing in course of time. This research is focused on the problem of the different concepts of the space and their interrelation based on the different physical experiments. Resuming the consequences of evolution of these concepts and defining the vector of development for the further understanding such nontrivial philosophical category as the space is the goal. Problem Statement. The aim of this work is to analyze connections previous concepts with the actual and understand what is the category of space in the modern apprehension. Is it actual or is it obsolete for nowadays? Background. Newton was the discoverer of the gravity and he made his own concept of the space and the time. In his theory space and time both had the absolute characteristic. Newton authority in science society was so colossal, that even two centuries after his death hardly anybody try to disprove his concept. And this fact made a lot of problem with developing the physics, because some divergencies appeared, but nobody can question the Newton’s theory. However, Ernst Mach issued a statement that absolutism of space and time is unacceptable. Any absolute category is unacceptable, so said Mach. His point was the relativism, which mean, that any part relative to another, so we can’t talk about any absolute concepts. Einstein developed this idea, but discovered, that despite there is no absolute space or absolute time, we have an absolute speed of light in our Universe. And in 1915 Einstein presented the final version of his concept of the space and time called General Theory of Relativity. Hereafter this concept was complicated by Quantum Mechanics. Problem Statement. The aim of this work is to analyze connections previous concepts with the actual and understand what is the category of space in the modern apprehension. Is it actual or is it obsolete for nowadays?
