Educational Programme: Digital Humanities (Master)

Year of Graduation: 2021

As the ideas for using computational methods in various humanities began to gain popularity, the advent of TEI has allowed scholars to expand the possibilities of working with text data. There is no doubt that it is essential to have a clear and detailed markup for conducting research. However, when it comes to publishing the results, whether by printing or creating a digital resource, scholars are faced with the issue of how to present their projects. As a result, the active development of resources that would allow not only to upload your documents but also to provide a user-friendly interface for viewing and working with them began. The main goal of this study is to develop an algorithm of conversion TEI XML into Edition Formats and its implementation as a package for the Python programming language. The algorithm consists of two main parts: an algorithm for converting TEI XML to a format and a front and back application for creating a digital publication and integrating it into an application or website. The presented program facilitates the working process with TEI XML documents as it eliminates the need to create their own transformation templates. In addition, the possibility of customization allows the user to adjust the final product based on their preferences. The proposed algorithm can be considered universal, since it allows users to transform the XML structure without binding to specific tags and customize the output according to personal preferences.
