The article analyzes the question of forecasting to what extent the educational space of a small city, including organized (structured) places of additional classes and unorganized (unstructured) places of "hanging out" of children really meets the needs of teenage schoolchildren. On the one hand, the coverage of additional education in Kozmodemyansk is 95% and is sufficiently provided by educational, cultural and sports institutions that are part of the unified educational space of a town. But, on the other hand, participation in the provided additional education programs for children aged 11-14 is not a large number. With the help of social mapping methods and a survey of teenage schoolchildren, the locations of children outside school were determined. The analysis of the demand for additional educational programs for 2023 was also carried out.
