About the Master’s Programme

Culture does not develop by itself. There are always some people who manage the cultural processes, by means of displaying specific artists in galleries, organizing concerts by particular musicians, printing important and interesting books, publishing mass market and specialist magazines or running theatres, internet sites and charity funds. And there is always a demand for people able to skillfully and professionally study the processes taking place in modern culture. Without such specialists both cultural managers and creators themselves move forward randomly, without seeing the process as a whole and not understanding the potential.

The master’s programme in Applied Cultural Studies prepares managers in culture with the highest level of management skills and a broad cultural outlook as well as unique analysts and researchers of modern culture.

Original and prominent researchers of various areas of culture and well-known practitioners of different cultural industries teach cultural studies at the HSE master’s courses.
