Recent developments in the Russian media industry have led to modifications of old professions and the emergence of new ones. One such profession is Data Journalism, which began to evolve on the wave of the technological breakthrough. This led to the emergence of a large number of machine-readable online materials, including open data, as well as the distribution of software that allow large volumes of information to be processed quickly and easily.
Students in Russia’s first Master’s programme in Data Journalism will acquire the theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary to effectively search for, filter, analyze, and process big volumes of data with the aim of producing interesting media texts or infographics. In addition, students will become well positioned to launch open data media start-ups.
