Internships, Project and Research Work

In order to consolidate and deepen the theoretical and practical knowledge and skills gained during the Master course, to obtain professional skills and experience of professional activities of students, the following types of project and research work are offered by the Master of Science “Mathematics” program.

 

Research seminars

The student of each year of study should include in the Individual Study Plan (ISP) research seminars from the elective pool of disciplines and seminars. The list of research seminars, their annotations, as well as recommendations on the selection of research seminars for students of different years of study, are contained in the annual Book of Courses.

 

Preparation of term papers and final qualification work

ISP of 1st year students includes the preparation of Term Paper (TP), of 2nd year students – preparation of final Master’s Thesis (MT).

TP or MT is carried out under the supervision of an advisor, usually a mathematics faculty member or a researcher from one of the affiliated research units.

Internship

In the 1st year of the Master's program, all students undergo teaching internship as teaching assistants in the core mathematical disciplines of the BSc mathematics program.

At the 2nd year of the Master's program, all students undergo a research internship in the form of an in-depth study of materials on the topic of MT and report the results in the form of a short oral presentation.
