Digital humanities is a field of research in which the use and development of software plays a significant role. Therefore, a sociological study of the digital humanities community must include an analysis of the social interactions associated with technology creation. One of the key venues for such interaction is the GitHub platform. This platform provides an infrastructure within which development teams can collaborate on project code.
Network analysis methods provide the best understanding of how digital humanities researchers collaborate during software development.
Since GitHub plays an important role not only for academics but also for professional and amateur programmers, the developments in network analysis of this platform may be useful not only for those studying the sociology of science but also for a wider range of researchers.
