Evgeny Yasin, HSE Academic Supervisor, has spoken about the prospects for Russian socio-economic development in his blog on the Ekho Moskvy website.

In an article published in the Russian daily “Rossiiskaya Gazeta” 10th Jan 2013, Academic Supervisor of the HSE, Evgeniy Yasin gave his forecast for the Russian economy and political situation for the coming year.

"In general, financial management has been well-handled," said Yasin, who is now head of studies at Moscow's prestigious Higher School of Economics. "The biggest success has been the handling of the [international] reserves and the creation of the stabilization fund."

Slower GDP growth rates over the last several years were brought about by changes on international markets and the exhaustion of transformational bonuses due to the transition from a planned economy to a market economy, and this slowdown proves the necessity of looking for new solutions for stimulating the economy. The authors of the paper ‘Structural Changes in the Russian Economy and Structural Policy’ conducted a large-scale analysis on structural policy in Russia and around the world, as well as on possible ways for this policy to develop further. In its 25th anniversary year, HSE has marked new achievements, entering the Top 50 in the Times Higher Education (THE) Young University Rankings among universities under 30 years old, and in the Top 100 in the global Young University Rankings under 50. HSE has become the first Russian university to enter the top list of THE Young Universities, a global institutional ranking.

The XVI April International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development is scheduled to take place from April 7-10, 2015, but plans are already underway among the organizers and participants alike. Recently, Dale Jorgenson, Samuel W. Morris University Professor of Economics at Harvard University, spoke with the HSE news service about his long history of cooperation with HSE. Professor Jorgenson, an internationally recognized expert on information technology and economic growth, among other subjects, shared his expectations for this year’s conference.
