In Russia, the school year traditionally starts on September 1 and is celbrated as a major holiday. Jan Surman, HSE University Research Fellow shares his memories of September 1 back when he was a university student.

The first month of summer may have already passed, but there is still time to discover and enjoy Moscow’s varied cultural programme. This year, public spaces and parks have prepared a flower festival, a brass band festival, open theatre rehearsals, and a Russian cuisine festival.

The HSE Centre for Psychological Counselling held dog therapy sessions on June 20 at Dubki dorm and on June 21 in the courtyard of the HSE building on Khitrovka.

On February 10, 2019, HSE Snow Fest – a winter sports festival, organized by HSE Extreme Sports Club and HSE Student Development Office  – was held at the ‘Kant’ skiing complex.

An advent calendar with gifts is usually seen as a source of entertainment for children, but away with conventions. Everyone loves to receive presents, but HSE loves to give them. Each day between December 1st and 24th, the windows of a virtual calendar will display links to some of HSE’s most interesting courses, lectures, and events set to take place soon, as well as recordings from past events. The result will be 24 presents for absolutely everyone to enjoy.

The Hiking Division of HSE Extreme Sports Club is glad to announce the most long-awaited event this Autumn - the 30^th anniversary tourist camp for students and their friends.

From May 31 to June 3, as part of the Red Square Book Fair, a Russian language festival will be held with the help of the HSE School of Philology.

On the eve of the Victory Day volunteers of the Open Your Eyes student project will be organizing a visit to the nursing home in Klin. They will put on a concert and give small presents, balloons, flowers as well as care, sincere wishes  and festive mood to the veterans.

Every quarter at HSE, we hold a competition to support student initiatives. Projects that foster university development, as well as projects that have benefits for wider society, are recognized and awarded financial and organizational assistance.
