The ‘Open Your Eyes’ Project: Collection for Nursing Homes

A good day starts with a good deed! From February 28 to March 2, ‘Open Your Eyes’, an HSE charity project, will be collecting items for elderly people at a nursing home in Klin. We invite you to get involved by donating any of the items listed below. You can also contact our volunteers to sign greeting cards, which will be delivered together with the items collected.

We are sending out a call for the following:

Adult diapers (sizes 3(L) and 4(XL));
Disposable underpads (size 60/90);
Wet wipes (any brand);
Mattresses (specifically those which prevent bedsores);
Oil heaters (please note that only new heaters can be accepted);
Blenders (for blending food for those who can’t chew);
Sweets: marshmallows, marmalade, soft pre-wrapped candies, tea bags;
Sweets for people with diabetes (soft sweets containing xylitol or sorbitol).

Every nursing home needs some entertainment! If you can, please contribute:

Crossword puzzles;
Soap bubble mix and balloons;
Checkers, chess, bingo, dominoes, board games;
Arts & crafts sets: painting paper, coloured paper, playdough, knitting yarn and needles of the correct size, fabrics, sets for activities such as embroidery, engravings, 3D cut-outs, etc;
Children’s colouring books; painting by numbers;
Rubber hand grips (round hand grips and resistance bands);
Radios (battery-operated, no older than 5 years);
Calendars, paintings, clocks, and other such items which create a ‘cozy’ atmosphere, as well as small individual gifts appropriate for elderly people.
