On November 18th, 2016, HSE lecturers and students took part in the third Korean-Russian humanities forum ‘Friendship Bridge’, organized by the Korea Foundation and the Institute of Russian Studies at the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.

On November 1–3  an international youth conference Physica.SPb/2016, organized by the Physics and Technology Institute A.F. Joffe, was held in St. Petersburg. Not only scientists from Russia, but also from leading universities of Europe took part in the event. About 200 young researchers presented their poster reports at the conference.

On September 26th, 2016,  the 2nd International Student Conference ‘Russia and Egypt: Joint Future’ was held at HSE. The event was organized by the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs with the support of the Egyptian Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs and the Egyptian Youth National Organization. Students and doctoral students from Cairo University and several Russian universities took part in the event.

During the conference, the Russian chapter of the System Dynamics Society held a meeting and unveiled an e-poster outlining its major activities, research events, and education projects. The poster was made by Natalya Lychkina, Associate Professor at the Department of Information Systems and Technologies in Logistics and Head of the Russian chapter of the System Dynamics Society.

In July, an international conference ‘Active Communities, Social-Economy Challenges and Local Knowledge’ and a summer school on ‘Sustaining Mutuality in Times of Crisis: Building Knowledge Alliances in Communities’ were held on Paros, Greece. Graduates of the master’s programme ‘Sociology of Public Sphere and Social Communications’ led by Nikita Pokrovsky, Professor at the School of Sociology, took part in these events.

Anna Khasyanova, a 2014 graduate of the master’s programme in Finance (specialization in Financial Markets and Banking) passed the selection process and took part in the 20^th International Conference ‘Financial Reporting and Business Communication’.

On June 9-13, the international conference ‘Computer Science Symposium in Russia 2016’ was held in St. Petersburg as part of the Special Semester on Computational and Proof Complexity.

Svetlana Strinyuk, Associate Professor at the School of Foreign Languages at HSE Perm, presented a report ‘Identity through Violence Aestheticization: murals in Derry and Belfast’ at the 5th international conference CONTEMPART 2016. The conference was dedicated to issues of urban identity, urban space and contemporary art and took place in Istanbul.

Strategic Management in Logistics MA students have taken part in the international conference ‘Research and Technology – Step into the Future’.

The Fourth International Legal Forum took place in St. Petersburg on May 18th, 2016. This year, the forum attracted about 7,000 participants from 90 countries. They included leading lawyers from global corporations as well as ministers, judges, and legal partners. Students and lecturers from HSE in St. Petersburg were also among the participants.

What is a сenter of excellence, and how to establish one – these were the topics of the talk delivered by the Professor of the Academy of Finland and of the University of Helsinki Uskali Mäkiat at the seminar of the Department of Political Science on May 19.

From April 15 th  -17 th , 2016, a symposium entitled ‘Growing a Person-Centered Society in Europe’ took place in Lausanne. It was organized by the Network of European Associations for Person-Centered and Experiential Psychotherapy and Counselling (PCE Europe). Veniamin Kolpachnikov, Associate Professor at the Department of Psychology of Personality, who participated in the symposium, shared some details about the event.
