Special Issue of Projector Journal Released on Design in St Petersburg and Istanbul

On September 1 in St Petersburg and September 13 in Istanbul, Mitya Kharshak, Head of the HSE University-St Petersburg Art and Design School and famous designer and publisher, will present the latest issue of the Projector journal devoted to Turkish design.

'City Legends': Designer Mitya Kharshak on His Favourite Places in St Petersburg

'City Legends' is a new feature on our website. Here, you will find interesting stories about St Petersburg, its life, citizens and architecture. The series starts with an interview with Mitya Kharshak, Director of HSE University-St Petersburg School of Art and Design. HSE University-St Petersburg Art and Design School and Hungarian Cultural Centre Open Joint Exhibition

On February 2, the building on Promyshlennaya Ulitsa hosted the opening of the exhibition 'From HÓDMEZŐVÁSÁRHELY to MOSONMAGYARÓVÁR: A Typographic Journey around Hungary'. The exhibition showcases lettering compositions devoted to ten Hungarian cities and created by students of the HSE University-St Petersburg Art and Design School. The opening ceremony was attended by the director of the Hungarian Cultural Centre and the science and technology attaché of the Embassy of Hungary in the Russian Federation.

On September 15, the opening of the St. Petersburg Young Design 2022 competition for young designers took place in the amphitheatre of the Kirov Palace of Culture. Among the organisers was HSE University-St Petersburg. Anna Tyshetskaya, Director of the St Petersburg campus, and Dmitry Kharshak, Head of HSE Art and Design School, attended the opening ceremony.

Summer School of Design to Be Held in St Petersburg

The HSE Art and Design School in St Petersburg is launching the Summer School of Design, a new urban educational project for those interested in design and visual art. The school, which is organised with support from the government of St Petersburg, will be held online on July 4–10 and will offer first-level courses in seven design disciplines.

The HSE – St. Petersburg team prepared a recap of the most significant events of the outgoing 2021 year, while the campus director Anna Tyshetskaya shared her future plans for the campus.

HSE – St. Petersburg School of Design Come Out on Top at the St. Petersburg Young Design Contest

Students of the HSE – St. Petersburg School of Design took part in St. Petersburg Young Design – a contest for young designers and artists. Alexandra Arsentieva clinched first place in the ‘Community’ special project, Ksenia Gernik won second place in the ‘Recycle Sea’ nomination, and another unique project by HSE students was a finalist in the ‘Saint-Petersburg Merchandise’ nomination. The participants also got a chance to learn new things at a unique poster workshop curated for the competition by Mitya Kharshak, Head of the School of Design.

HSE University – St Petersburg Launches Joint Projects with the Maison Cartier

Within the framework of the ‘Cartier & HSE: the Future is Youth’ meeting, a presentation dedicated to the partnership between the HSE campus in Saint Petersburg and a world-famous luxury jewellery house took place with the participation of Yanina Novitskaya, Managing Director of Cartier in Russia, Ukraine, and the CIS, and Sergey Kadochnikov, Director of the HSE Campus in St Petersburg.

Russian Museum of Ethnography to Hold Exhibition of Student Works

The Russian Museum of Ethnography and the HSE Art and Design School St. Petersburg will present an exhibition of works by the school’s students. The HSE OPEN DAYS: Poster, Sign, Book exhibition will run at the museum from September 15–26.

HSE University School of Art and Design in St. Petersburg and ‘Manege’ Open a Joint Exhibition

On August 14, the ‘Thirty Three Characters’ project, which was created by the HSE University School of Art and Design in St. Petersburg in partnerships with the ARKI Creative Workshop, will open at the Manege Central Exhibition Hall in St. Petersburg. The project combines a series of outdoor installations dedicated to the Cyrillic alphabet.

From London with Love

In early July, 5 students of the education programme “Design” went to London, where they got acquainted with the culture of London and took a short mosaic-making course.
