Transfer of International English Language Test Results to HSE

(These rules do not apply to students of ICEF, the HSE/NES Programme in Economics, and the HSE and University of London Parallel Degree Programme in International Relations, who need to follow a different programme when studying the English language)

At HSE, all undergraduates must take the Internal and External Independent English Language Tests during the 1st and 2nd years of their studies. In addition, you can take an optional English language course in addition to those included in your curriculum and study English for 2 academic years.

If you have a valid English Language certificate confirming that you have passed one of the international English language tests approved by HSE, you may convert its results into HSE credits in line with the HSE Language Test and the University’s optional course in English. To do this, you must submit an application and present the original certificate to your Programme Office.

To transfer your test results, please take the following steps:

  • check if your certificate is recognized by HSE;
  • check if your average grade is not lower than “good” as per the conversion scale
  • when transferring your results, ensure that the certificate is still valid at the time of the application’s submission;
  • when transferring to HSE Language Test results, the certificate should be valid at the time when the test is conducted;
  • present the original certificate to your Programme Office and write an application.
