Moscow Spring Festival: May 1-10

The Moscow spring festival will be dedicated to six different periods in Russian history. The festival’s opening will take place on May 1 in Stoleshnikov Pereulok, which will feature displays of flowers and retro decorations.

The festival’s main events will take place in 23 city fairgrounds, located in each district, as well as in the main pedestrian areas, including the Arbat, Ulitsa Nikolskaya, Novopushkinsky Square, Muzeon Park, Ploshchad Revolutsii, Ulitsa Kuznetsky Most, Kamergersky, Stoleshnikov, Lavrushinsky and Climentievsky Pereulok.

May fairs

As part of the Moscow spring festival a number of funfairs will take place in the city during the holidays. About 260 fairs will offer refreshments, souvenirs, Soviet-era toys, and trinkets. Guests will also be offered free courses and master classes, entertainment programmes for children, fashion shows, family sport events, and much else.

  • Kuzminki Park

Street Magic Festival: May 1, 13:00 – 16:00

The park’s territory will be transformed into a magic place, where visitors will see mimes, street magicians and jugglers. Young magicians along with the main Russian illusionists will perform on the park’s main stage. A magic school will also be open for children, who can look forward to learning simple tricks and creating their own magic wands and wizard costumes.

  • Muzeon Park

Festival of Walking Orchestras: May 1-2

On May 1 and 2, Muzeon Park is hosting the Festival of Walking Orchestras. The following bands will perform and take part in music battles during the festival: CQMD, Apples, 1/2 Orchestra and Big Band. A funfair will also take place in the park as part of the festival. Handicrafts, food, clothing and many other interesting items will be available for sale. Children can visit a special area where they will be able to try out any musical instrument they like.

  • Sokolniki Park

Festival of Bicycle Culture: May 1, 12:00 – 20:00

The Sokolniki Park is hosting a large festival dedicated to bicycle culture. Visitors will find an exposition dedicated to bicycles and can see a presentation of the latest concepts in eco transport, which
they will also be able to try out.

  • Gorky Park

On May 1-4, Gorky Park will host different festive events, including dancing, fairs and master classes. For the programme ‘Gorky Park Resorts’ the territory will be divided in several areas: ‘Tropical Islands’ (an artificial beach), ‘Gagra’ (musical performances since 16:00 to 19:00), ‘Saint-Tropez in Times of Brigitte Bardot’ (petanque playing and girls' chit chat with cider in the 1960's style), ‘Nice’ (big garage sale), ‘Greece’ (dating club), ‘Côte d'Ivoire’ (drum rhythms and African tunes), ‘England’ (badminton tournaments), and ‘Turkey and Latin America’ (entertainment programme for children).

On May 9, the traditional Victory Parade will take place in Moscow. The culmination of the celebration will be fireworks in 16 areas of the city at 22:00.
