Savour a Visual Nightcap on Museum Night

Coming up on the heels of Park Day, May 18 marks Museum Night in Moscow. With every year, the event gets bigger and bigger, and it’s hard not to get lost in the schedule’s plentiful offerings. Read on for a summary of select events that will take place on the night of May 18. Museums offer unusual excursions and concerts in honor of the event, so Museum Night is not to be missed. Admission to many of the events is free, but be prepared for long queues at some of the more popular venues.

Garage Museum of Contemporary Art

All guests can get entry tickets at a discounted price and join free guided tours of Pavel Pepperstein’s exhibition and Rasheed Araeen’s retrospective. Visitors are also welcome to peruse the Garage Archive—the world’s largest collection documenting the history of contemporary Russian art which currently holds over five hundred thousand items.

Institute of Russian Realistic Art

The exhibition ‘Time to sort it out!’ featuring works by art historian Alexander Kamensky will be open to the public on Museum Night. The exposition includes works by 20th-century artists such as Martiros Saryan, Mark Chagall, Sergey Konenkov, Robert Falk and many others. Admission is free.

Jewish Museum and Tolerance Centre

Starting at 10 pm, entry to the main exhibition will be free to the public. Admission is open until 1.30 am.

Moscow Multimedia Art Museum (MAMM)

Visitors are invited to a video art exhibition by the Alexander Rodchenko School of Photography and Multimedia. In addition, a music programme will feature a DJ set by Fedor Pereverzev (Moa Pillar) and a concert by Rosemary Loves a Blackberry. Admission is free.

Museum of Russian Impressionism

The programme includes a summer night library, a meeting with writer Alexandra Nikolaenko, and a documentary theatre performance. Admission is free starting from 6 pm.
