The problem of understanding factors that make film successful is now as topical as it ever was in Russia. The main purpose of the research is to find out the complex interests that cinema producers in Russia have and then to define such factors and prove them statistically. To define factors of successful strategy, studying of professional literature is used. To prove the results statistically, panel data regression is used. In the regression model a film’s measures of success are the dependent variables, and factors of success (which could include production costs, critical response, genre etc.) are independent variables. The influence of independent variables is evaluated, so it’ll become evident if a particular variable is really a factor of film’s successful performance. Moreover, the instruments taken from theory of status crystallization are used to discover the interaction between the different measures of success. The research consists of following parts: introduction, main body and conclusion. Introduction justifies the relevance of the topic, defines the problem and objectives of the study. Main body is divided into four parts: Literature review, Methods, Model's Testing and Status Inconsistency. Results of researchers, studying film industry, are presented in the “Literature review”. “Methods” depict the methodological foundation of statistical analysis applied in the research. In “Model's Testing”, the suggested model is tested empirically. In “Status Inconsistency”, the relationship between the measures of success is studied. Conclusion resumes the results of the research and suggests ideas for further studies of the field.
