This paper concentrates on the study of substantial and organizational structure of summer holidays of children in Russian families. Using the data of sociological surveys of education economics monitoring, together with a number of semi-structured interviews with mothers having different social statuses, it is demonsrated which kind of activities children are involved in according to the household income level. Besides, there was an attempt to identify and describe the parental strategies of summer vacation organization, conditioned by the human capital of family and free time of parents with all the necessary information they needed. It was demonstrated that less well off parents try to involve their children in some developing and educational activities too, and the differences between families are more likely attributable to the diverse access of parents to particular resources, and not to their desire and interest in developing children's talents and skills, according to the papers of Annette Lareau.
