Using Project-Based Learning for Developing Bachelor Students' Speech Skills

There is a demand in modern society for specialists who possess not only a range of skills and knowledge, but who are also able to obtain information and use it for professional purposes. Many technologies are used for developing this skill and project-based learning (PBL) plays there the leading role. This technology is aimed at creating active educational environment and is dedicated to developing students’ language skills. The purpose of this research is to examine the effectiveness of PBL for developing bachelor students’ speech skills in German as the second foreign language. This paper is aimed at theoretical substantiation and methodological elaboration of a project model which will promote speech skills development. The first chapter is devoted to the analysis of PBL as a methodological category. It examines different approaches to PBL, the typology of projects and their potential for being included into the higher education system. In the second chapter the author considers the notion “speech skills”, analyzes peculiarities of the development of foreign language speech skills and touches upon the specific character of the second foreign language speech skills (German on the basis of English). The third chapter focuses on the practical substantiation of PBL for developing bachelor students' speech skills.
