Vladimir Mayakovsky is of great interest for Russian and foreign scholars and translators due to his leading role in the Russian avant-garde poetry and his innovative expressions in the language of his works. The bulk of his creation before the Revolution was devoted to lyrical themes while his postrevolutionary poetry was ideological, thus Mayakovsky’s oeuvre was traditionally considered in terms of such dichotomy. Recent studies however have sought to approach Mayakovsky’s works in new ways, showing the wholeness of his creation. The poem I Love, written in 1922, is considered to be the brightest text of all Mayakovsky’s works. The present research conducts the analysis of the concept “love” as the key concept of the poem, which gains not only cultural specific features in the text, but author’s individual vision as well, and studies a number of transformations, which appear in the process of translation of the text into English.
