Literary Tropes in the Works of G. G. Marquez

Rizun Viktoriya Olegovna. The current paper is dedicated to the figures of speech in the works of G. G. Marquez, particularly to such stylistic devices as an epithet and a simile in the novellas “No One Writes to the Colonel” and “Leaf Storm”. This research mainly addressed the questions of translation from Spanish into Russian such stylistic devices as an epithet and a simile and their usage purposes by G. G. Marquez. During the research the examples of similes, which have the stylistic interesting features, we found, that similes were observed more frequently then epithets, however, the epithets were more emotional and expressive. The epithets and similes were used by the author in the description of nature or person appearance. The epithets were applied for creation the gloomy atmosphere, meanwhile the similes were stylistic neutral. The results of the present study may have the theoretical and practical significance in the further literary trope’s research in Russian and Spanish linguistics and stylistics.
