The Problem of Equality in Republican Thought

This work is devoted to the analysis of the problem of equality in republican thought. The main goal of the study is to determine the significance of equality as a socio-philosophical principle in the theory of republicanism. The structure of the work, in addition to the introduction, conclusion and list of used literature, consists of three chapters: the first deals with the theoretical aspects related to the concept of equality, the second studies the historical development of the idea within the framework of republican trends; the third chapter is devoted to the place of the concept of equality in the modern theory of neo-republicanism. The first chapter is devoted to the definition of equality in the theory of general philosophy. In the terminological sense, Equality can be understood as a special type of relationship between two subjects or objects, which are compared on the basis of certain criteria. From the point of view of philosophy, equality is a certain principle that is part of the value system of society and a guideline for its organization. The second chapter provides a historical analysis of the formation of the concept of equality in the framework of republican thought, analyzes the works of its individual representatives in order to identify specific types of understanding. The third chapter analyzes modern approaches to ensuring and understand different types of equality, analyzes its relationship with other key republican values, and also suggests proposed measures and institutions for ensuring equality in various public spheres. In conclusion, the author formulates the main conclusions of the study.
