Сonstructing a Communicative Situation in Teaching Dialogic Speech

Nowadays skills of communication and interaction have become one of the most significant issues in learning foreign languages. The importance of teaching dialogue communication skills continues to raise. Many investigators from different scientific domains as methodology, phycology, sociology, philosophy, linguistics, etc. conducted a lot of research in attempt to find out what conditions were essential for developing conversational skills. Situational education is considered as one of the most effective and up-to-date methods of teaching foreign language communication for it involves the students into active situational interaction interesting and relevant for them. A communicative situation is thought of as a necessary component of a successful communication while teaching foreign languages. The use of communicative situations at foreign language lessons contributes to creating close-to-real conditions of spoken interaction. The main purpose of the present research is to analyze the theoretical literature on the problem of teaching dialogue skills in terms of situation-based teaching and person-centered approach and to present an algorithm of constructing a communicative situation in order to improve the skills of spoken interaction among students in higher school at a beginner level (B1-B2 students). The current study focuses on the analysis of the notion of dialogue as a type of speech activity, its main characteristics and objectives in accordance with the concept of communicative situation, its structure, major principles, and ways of implementation. The outcome is a model of designing communicative situations according to the principles of situation-based teaching and person-centered approach. Results of our study explored the effectiveness of designing different kinds of communicative situations at lessons of English in higher school at a beginner level. In the long term, the paper contributes to the development of methodology towards communicative teaching methods and techniques.
