Political Discourse Representation in Cross-Cultural Communication

Political discourse is one of the most influential variables in multicultural interaction as it is to contribute to governance of the society. However, the problem of representation of political discourse in intercultural communication in modern society is insufficiently disclosed in works of specialists, that is why it is important to determine the key features of the phenomenon. This research aims at analyzing the political discourse from the point of its influence on intercultural interaction on the material of the up-to-date media publications. The value of the investigation is born out of the contemporary need for developing more optimal ways of collaboration between different cultures that can be done by studying the features of intercultural communication and modern discourse. The hypothesis is that it is possible to trace the tendencies of political discourse representation in intercultural communication. Current study reveals three constituents of the essence of political discourse that are the ways of political discourse representation, the plethora of political topics, the variety of its participants. The role of political discourse in intercultural communication is investigated with the help of determination of the notions of intercultural communication and political discourse with respect to its types and approaches to studying it. In addition, the analysis of the key features of the phenomenon representation is provided. The methodological bases of discourse-analysis are investigated to be further applied to the media publications of different countries on political topics. To tackle these issues content analysis, comparative analysis, discourse analysis, system and structural-functional methods are used. The results of the research are of theoretical and practical value as they reveal the ways of the representation of political discourse in accordance to the variety of its formats, topics and participants. The obtained outcomes can be applied in teaching of the specialists of intercultural communication. The further investigation is to analyze in depth the features of political discourse to determine how it can contribute to manipulation techniques.
