The thesis on «Features of Producing Multimedia Project about "Difficult Heritage" (Based on the Project for the Gulag History Museum)» contains 63 pages of text, consists of three chapters and one appendix, the list of references includes 38 titles. This work was performed in order to study the theoretical basis on the production of projects about "difficult heritage", for its further application in the implementation of the project "Knock at the door". In addition, the study of existing theory was necessary to understand the specifics of the representation of cultural trauma in museums, as well as the specifics of the implementation of museum projects about "difficult heritage". This work was done in the first two chapters. The third chapter contains a bible of the project "Knocked at the Door", which was implemented as part of the thesis work. The bible is a complete description of the content of the project that our team worked on. The study of the theoretical framework allowed us to come to the conclusion that "cultural trauma" as an interdisciplinary concept plays an important role in the study of history and its impact on society. When dealing with "difficult heritage," it is important to take into account the peculiarities of society's experience of traumatic events. In addition, in this paper we have identified the functionalities of the curator and the producer, and concluded that in many ways their roles overlap. We have been able to identify the key strengths of contemporary formats in museum exhibiting, and outline the functions they are capable of fulfilling. We have also worked out how various multimedia formats work in the context of a "difficult heritage" in a museum. Thus, this work allowed us to better understand the specifics of producing transmedia projects and to apply the theory we learned in our project for the GULAG history museum "Knock at the Door".
