Employees are the most important element of the functioning of any organization, so a good manager always strives to do everything possible to keep real professionals in his organization. A large number of studies have been conducted on the topic of what exactly makes employees stay in the organization, but a separate topic is the consideration of this issue for public civil servants. Despite the widespread perception of low wages, people continue to work in this sector, so there is a need to identify the factors that motivate individuals to stay and continue working in the public service, to study existing strategies for retaining employees in the public civil service, to whom they are directed, and to find out the reasons why public civil servants leave the service. To address these issues, an interview was conducted with the head of the department responsible for developing methodological recommendations and policies for the use of personnel technologies in the civil service, as well as an online survey of 42 civil servants of the Ministry of Labor of Russia. As a result of the conducted research, the features of the retention of state civil servants in public authorities were identified, as well as factors affecting the retention of employees and their dismissal.
