Sectoral consumption of KIBS services across EU countries
At the 30th RESER International Congress, that took place in an online format on January 21-22, 2021, organized by the University of Alcala, Madrid, Spain,Veronika Belousova and Ian Miles presented the study 'Sectoral consumption of KIBS services consumed across EU countries' jointly prepared with Nikolay Chichkanov and Gleb Kuzmin (HSE University).
Here is an abstract of the study:
'The paper explores the difference between the consumption of KIBS services in EU countries by bearing their level of labour force readiness for the digital transformation of service industries and the quality of economic institutions. To assess the role of KIBS in this transformation, input-output tables were analyzed. The paper defines the number of clusters based on a two-step clustering procedure which includes hierarchical and k-means clustering techniques. The results show that EU countries do not substantially differ across these metrics which allows us to argue that the trend toward digitalization helps countries achieve convergence and similarities faster than the focus on service competitiveness.'
