Nenets-Russian bilingualism at Yamal

The goal of the project is to investigate language development of bilingual children with different types of bilingualism (more and less balanced). The study is carried out at Yamal boarding school, Yar-Sale, Yamal-Nenets Autonomous District. The pilot study of object and action naming in Russian and Nenets languages in spring 2018 demonstrated that the stimulus materials commonly used in research on Russian language requires cultural adaptation for use at Yamal. The next stage of the project includes discussion with local teachers, speech pathologists and psychologists about cultural adaptation of standardized tests for speech assessment.
