The HSE Center for Language and Brain opened a new educational track in Experimental Linguistics, invited by the HSE School of Linguistics

In September 2020, the HSE Center for Language and Brain opened a new education trajectory, invited by the HSE School of Linguistics. It is an educational track in Experimental Linguistics, offered to 3rd- to 4th-year students of the bachelor’s programme in Fundamental and Computational linguistics, along with a theoretical and computational track. The new track will provide students with a unique opportunity to gain a background in experimental linguistics already at the bachelor’s level.

During the first year of the track, the students will be enrolled in Psycho- and Neurolinguistics, a class addressing theoretical foundations of psycho- and neurolinguistic studies, from general experimental methodology to modern neurolinguistic theories. The second year of the track will include two classes: Practicum in Psycholinguistics and Practicum in Neurolinguistics, where the students will apply their knowledge in real research projects.

In 2020-2021, 23 students are enrolled in the track. In the first module, taught by Ekaterina Stupina, they learnt the core principles of experimental methodology. Currently, in the second module, they are building a foundation in neuroanatomy and neuroscience methods, taught by Yulia Akinina. We wish best of luck to our first class!
